The Provincial and Municipal Women?s Federations as well as the UN-Habitat held a reception in the Zhongshan Hall of Jinling Conference Center in Nanjing International Exposition Center. It warmly welcomed those attended the 4th WUF: governments from different countries (regions), female representatives of non-governmental organizations and male representatives who pay attention about women issues. Nearly 200 people gathered together to celebrate the success of the ?Women?s Roundtable?. Anna Tibaijuka, Secretary General for the UN and Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme, made an address.

Anna said that the ?Women?s Roundtable? was successfully held in Nanjing on November 3 which was co-organized by Commonwealth Association of Planners, Nanjing Women?s Federation and UN-Habitat, etc. Over 100 female representatives worldwide exchanged their notes on ?Women and Harmonious Urbanization? enthusiastically. The communication was cross-national and cross-regional.

The roundtable appealed every government to make ?Gender Mainstream Awareness? as part of the urban planning in order to give more freedom and convenience to women and children in the urban. The 4th WUF is a milestone for global women.

On the reception, executives from the Provincial and Municipal Women?s Federations introduced their function and working conditions respectively. Women representatives, like Ms Christine Platt, President of Commonwealth Association of Planners, all made addresses. They speak highly of the forum, especially the ?Women?s Roundtable? which is of positive significance for promoting communications between China and the outside world as well as the development of women issues.
